2017 Preakness Stakes Winner

Cloud Computing has won the Preakness Stakes. Always Dreaming faded late, and it looked as though Classic Empire had the win in hand, but a late sure by Cloud Computing was the difference. Cloud Computing was sent off at 13-1 and he returned his backers handsomely in Saturday’s Preakness.

Preakness Stakes Payouts: Cloud Computing: Win ($28.80), Place ($8.60), Show ($6.00) Classic Empire: Place ($4.40), Show ($4.00) Senior Investment: Show ($10:20)

2016 Preakness Stakes Winner

Exaggerator won the 141st running of the Preakness Stakes on Saturday at Pimlico. With Nyquist, the Kentucky Derby winner, in the lead for much of the race, Exaggerator found a way to come from behind down the stretch and win the very muddy second leg of the Triple Crown.

2015 Preakness Stakes Winner

Pilmico's track, converted into a real pool, met a shark on the track called American Pharoah, who enjoyed it fully and with the ride of Víctor Espinoza, managed to take the honors to be a great promise that can take the triple crown of colts. American Pharoah simply showed his qualities as a runner and showing the way throughout the competition, he shattered his opponents to win the Preakness Stakes 2015 with ease.

2014 Preakness Stakes Winner

The 139th running of the Preakness Stakes was scheduled to start at 6:18 pm Eastern Daylight Time (EDT) on May 17, 2014 at Pimlico Race Course and was run as the twelfth race on a racecard with thirteen races. The race was won by California Chrome, giving him a chance to win the Triple Crown at Belmont.

It is the thirty-fourth time a horse has won the first two legs of the Triple Crown.

2013 Preakness Stakes Winner

The race was held on May 18, 2013, and was televised on NBC; it was won by Oxbow. The Maryland Jockey Club reported total attendance of 117,203, this is recorded as second highest on the list of American thoroughbred racing top attended events for North America in 2013.

Nine 3-year-olds were entered for the 138th Preakness Stakes: The Preakness post position draw was held at the International Pavilion in the Pimlico Infield at 6 p.m. on May 15, 2013.

2012 Preakness Stakes Winner

I'll Have Another won by 1 1/2 lengths in the Derby and by a neck in the Preakness – the same margins Affirmed posted in wins over rival Alydar in those two races 34 years ago.

Two weeks ago, he ran down his rival and won the Kentucky Derby. This time, the chestnut colt needed to be even more relentless to win the Preakness.

2011 Preakness Stakes Winner

In the Preakness, Shackleford battled for the lead from the outset. He trailed Flashpoint in the early going, then took the lead and wouldn't relinquish it despite a hard charge from Animal Kingdom.

Shackleford wins the 2011 Preakness at Pimlico. A crowd of 107,398 was on hand at Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore for the 136th running of the $1 million Preakness Stakes (G1), a 1 3/16 mile trip for 3-year-olds and the second jewel of racing's Triple Crown.

2010 Preakness Stakes Winner

The second leg of the Triple Crown took place on May Saturday 15th, in Maryland. Unfortunately the winner of the Preakness Stakes was not the winner of the Kentucky Derby (Super Saver/Calvin Borel) so there wasn't Triple Crown 2010. The winner of the 2010 Preakness Stakes, also known as the run for the black eyed Susans, was Lookin for Lucky. This horse was favored in the Kentucky Derby, but did not win.

In both the Kentucky and Santa Anita Derby, Lookin at Lucky lost all chance at victory after getting roughed up and steadied, prompting Baffert, who has won with over 30% of his starters with Garcia aboard, to switch riders in hopes of changing his fortunes. After jockey Garret Gomez rode Lucky in his first nine career starts, Garcia, who had frequently excercised the horse in the mornings, took over 2010 Preakness.

2009 Preakness Stakes Winner

Rachel Alexandra became the first filly in 85 years (since Nellie Morse in 1924) to win the Preakness Stakes. Rachel Alexandra led by a head at the quarter and half-mile poles. She stretched it to a half-length at the three-quarters pole. She was ahead by four lengths going down the stretch. In the end, the 9-5 favorite won by a length in her first race against the boys.

She had already beaten up on her own gender, winning her five previous races by a combined 43 1/2 lengths.
